Try one of Kentucky's quota hunts on one of their many Public lands..Those quota hunts start a week earlier usually and the bird does not count towards your State turkey tag..I've done it many years, had some real good luck on Kentucky Public lands killing birds.

I've hunted KY. public land for probably 15 years or so. Hunting used to be great not so much any more. Mining and logging have just about ruined where I hunted.I used to hunt LBL quota hunts and they did start early, but they don't always do that any more. Also it seemed to me there were more hunters during the draw hunts than during open hunts.

This Spring should offer good Turkey hunting here in Kentucky. We have had a mild winter here in Kentucky so far so hopefully they Turkey population stays healthy.

We camped at the Wranglers campground and hunted south of there mostly on the east side of the trace. I would hear vehicles stop and take off all the time and I'm prety sure they were dropping off non quota folks. We have hunted in the open season and not heard near the traffic. I gotta say you live about as close to God's county as a fella can get!
