Can you believe guys are running 10-15 dz of them? Nope, I thought the sales pitch was with dekes like those you only need a dozen or two and a good hide. But it also only pertains to Washington or Oregon geese too as they all have PhDs or something like that. Pigeon wrong dekes, the contest was for DropZone I believe definately not Dave Smith. I was glad to see the contest last so long, it started out with a 20# goose as guys were claiming to get them every year, each year it has gone down a pound and he still has not given away a dozen dekes. I've lost track but last I watched it I thought they had got to 16#s. I personally started weighing birds and hit 14# several times but never broke 15 that I can remember. I would think 15 would get it easy in the course of a year, definately 14# will be the end of the contest.

It is dropzones and it was 15lbs this year. I think that the guy who is running the contest intends to keep in at 15 lbs. There have been many 14 lb birds reported so he thinks 15 is a good goal.
There are a ton of threads on it over at the refuge in the goose hunting forum.
I know that my dad shot 2 13 lb birds this winter and they were PIGS! I can't even imagine a 15 or an 18 like pigeon had!

The BS ends when you put a wager on it. It proves there are not many birds out there that go over 15# despite claims of 18 and 20 pounders. 3 or 5 years of this wager an not one person has been able to claim it...yet. No doubt there are big geese but your average local giant is probably more like 12 pounds based on my own personal records. A 14# bird is noticably bigger then the average 12, could not even imagine an 16-20# goose.
Any guess as to what an average Mute Swan or Trumpter Swan weighs?
