The last day of duck season ended with a triumphant bang. It was cold with 10 degree windchill, and flurries of snow everywhere! We almost decided not to go but figured since it was the last day we should try our luck. I managed to kill a full plumage green wing teal. Fiance told me that this is a very special bird because they normally do not get full breeding plumage like this when they are huntable in Indiana. He says he has only seen/killed 4 in his lifetime that were of this quality. He gave us the best shot of the day with a classic "springing teal" jump off the water and by the grace of god I dropped him with one shot. I am thankful for the opportunity he gave me and plan to put this one on the wall at the urging of my fiance, despite how delicious they are. I can't believe fiance told me to have it mounted. He normally doesn't believe in mounting birds so if he is telling me to have it done then it must be very special indeed.
