Had a great trip to SD hunting December 15-17 about 20 miles north of Mitchell on private ground. First day freezing rain changing to sleet and then snow, 20 degrees and 30-40 mph winds. Guide / landowner asked us if we wanted to stay at the house and try the next day, we said we came to hunt so let's go. Ended up with 1 bird the first day for the group taken with my 870 Wingmaster 12 ga in blizzard conditions. Next day sunny and clear low 20's, we harvested 11 or 12 birds for the group (see picture) I got 2 that day with my CZ Woodcock in 20 gauge. Third day we were greeted with 7 degrees and freezing fog, but no wind. We harvested 7 or 8 amongst the group. I think I got another 2. One of the guys sons came up from Wyoming bringing Elk meat, ground for chili, and steaks, also some antelope jerky, great meals. Overall a great time, but I think a trip next year will be earlier in the season.
