I am on the fence about this. The price increase is a big jump but needed. The downside is that it could backfire as many of our wages remain stagnant and force a lot of us to make unhappy choices of what tags we can afford to buy. Duck hunting is an expensive and difficult sport to get into and if many guys have to make a choice are going to ditch the duck hunting and go after bigger game to fill the freezer. A lot of us duck hunters already bought 2 stamps anyway, one for the collection book and one for hunting. Now, it looks like I will only be buying one next year, which means they will actually be getting $5 less in revenue from me per year.
I truly feel like the financial burden of conservation has been forced to be carried solely by hunters for far too long and with the decreasing interest of my generation, that is not a good thing for the future.

Wonder if they will gain or loose $$$ in the long run.

Ten dollar increase is not prohibitive. Box of shells cost that. Nothing stays the same price and fed stamp has been 15 for some time.

Yeah, $10 probably won't keep someone from going out but for those who buy 2 stamps: will $20 be enough to stop that practice?

I support the increase; an extra $10 is a drop in the bucket compared to what a person can spend on shells, decoys, gas, guns and other gear for chasing waterfowl. As long as it goes to conservation and promoting the sport then go for it.

Buying a duck stamp should be the minimum contribution a person who enjoys this sport can do. Joining organizations like Ducks Unlimited and Delta Waterfowl are other good ways to see the sport of waterfowl hunting grow.
I too buy 2 stamps a year because I collect them, one will be signed and one will not.

I totally agree fd. If a 25 dollar stamp is going to strap you enough where you can't pay your bills then maybe duck hunting shouldn't be your priority.
We all have made tough decisionsand in life. Scale back other habits or activities you don't enjoy as much, shoot order water instead of a coke on a few meals that you eat out. Or don't eat out for a few meals. Quit smokin, chewing etc. You will find a way!

And with that kind of encouragment to get out of waterfowling or never start because some find the price too high to buy an extra then zero duck stamps would be purchased by said person.

That is my point. 25 dollars is not very much but if it is too much you have to choose what is it you are willing to sacrifice. Everyone has been there in life where you have to choose which hobby or habit will suffer.
The duck stamp at twentyfive bucks is still the cheapest part of duck hunting

It is a bargain when you look at turkey license. One bird cost $25. And you have to buy one for spring and one for fall. One deer tag is $24.
So I doubt the fed duck stamp increase will keep those of us that want to hunt out of the marshes or where ever you hunt. And I doubt it will keep new recruits out. Maybe the idea of buying decoys, waders, blinds, nontox shells, boat or canoe, and calls will scare someone away. I know those kept me away until I got a real job, not a $15 stamp.

I've been buying them for over 30 years now to hunt and support conservation efforts and a price increase won't stop me now, especially since I buy extra every year
