Hello all, I'm thinking about getting into X-bow and I don't really know what to look for. I know that everyone is going to be partial to their particular X-bow for one reason or another. I'm just looking for a brand to start with and some must haves on the X-bow. Thanks in advance and have a happy holiday season.

I'm just looking for a brand to start with and some must haves on the X-bow. Thanks in advance and have a happy holiday season. A good starter crossbow would be a Wicked Ridge by TenPoint. www.tenpointcrossbows.com/shop/wicked-ridge-crossbows/I posted this in another thread earlier.. When you get ready to buy look this guy up. Best deals going and he will not try and sell you something you don't need or want. Ok, after doing a little research I think I have setteled on the Tenpoint. However I have some questions and hopefully I can get some additional feed back so I can narrow down my choice a little more. After looking at the specs on the tenpoint site I've noticed that you have the varying degrees of width once you cock the bow.
Is this a make/break point for a lot of guys wanting to choose product A over B? Also with the fps and ke I noticed they are a in marriage with one another. They love to hate each other fps goes up, the ke goes down and converse is true. Which is more important in that department? I would think that if something is traveling fast enough with the 100 grain projectile wouldn't matter all that much.
Really want to thank all of you for your feedback etc. God Bless

Ke= 1/2mv^2
Velocity is much more important in the equation than mass. The mass becomes more important down range as a lighter projectile can be slowed down easier and pushed easier in the wind. Use the fastest bow possible and a good 125 grain broadhead and you'll be fine.

For crossbows we are way into overkill on KE. Unless you hit a major bone it is pretty well a pas through on any deer.
I believe that this year's best seller for TenPoint is their Shadow Ultra Lite. Followed closely by the Stealth SS. I have the Stealth SS and dearly love it. I think the Shadow also has the compact limb system (CLS) so width is not a problem at all.
Wyvern has to sell TenPonts at what TenPoint tells lo dealers to sell at. If a dealer sells for less TenPoint will jerk their licensing to sell TenPoints. Wyvern just throws in extras, such as more arrows, to sweeten the deal.

Me and a friend got our wicked ridge crossbows from Wyvern and he was very helpful and threw in some extra bolts. It was the best deal we could find. I am very happy with the switch to a crossbow. I shot two deer this year with it. Both pass throughs. They both dropped within 30 yards of the shot. Quick kills and easy tracking.

I bought a wicked ridge raider from Wyvern. I quickly switched to carbon arrows as the aluminum ones were bending just from hitting my target. I went with black eagle executioners. I also bought a steddy eddy second hand. I love that thing and it would be reason enough for me to buy a tenpoint/wicked ridge.

Thank you all for your valued responses. After looking into it I believe that I might go with the Titan from Ten Point, however the only thing that for me seems a draw back is that after each hunt you have to take your target with you and shoot your bolt into the target, or can you manually de-cock your x-bow? Once again thank you to everyone.

The Titan is a very good bow.
There is a couple unauthorized methods of decocking. If one makes a slip it could be bad.
Best way is to shoot it.
I leave mine cocked until I get back home and shoot it in my target in the backyard. Leaving it cocked all day is not a problem.

The 1st thing I looked for when I bought my xbow was the warranty. The higher the speed, the more likely you'll need it.
