My Last Hunt of The Year

Started off meeting goonegoosey before sunrise at a gas station south of town.. We took our time,, didnt want to arrive at the river till after the geese had time to leave. We drove through town and eyed the geese hangin,, and said a prayer they would leave and come back. WOW was there lots of them.. Finally arrived at the ramp about 7:30 to meet our 3rd guy in the group,,his name is Rich. After we had everything loaded and ready we started out in the river. Arrived close to our spot and ended up running out a BUNCH of birds. We were hoping they would be gone,, but they were still there. After the RUSH of seeing that many, we finally got our dekes set,, got the boat anchored,,, and the blind up.. Its alot of work when the river is HIGH,, and your confined to the boat. No way to get out in waders... We set up next to a big ice patch,, tucked back in a corner.. Put out 8 bigfoots up on the ice. First thing goonegoosey had to get a BIG wet kiss from my little girl and we were underway. ;D She does have her way with everyone in the front seat.. Couple guys on here can testify to that....


We had no shortage of ducks that would have died today...





We ended up with 4 birds coming right into the dekes,, and all 4 stayed thanks to goonegoosey making a long final shot to POKE the last goose.. Right on dude,, nice shot!!!!!!!!!!!! We saw alot of birds,, had a few groups that wanted to commit,, but changed their mind in the end.. All in all,, it was a whole lot better than going to work.. Rock on gooney,, we're gonna tear up some fish this summer.. Here is Rich with our HERO shot..
