It was too hot to deer hunt this evening. So, I asked a buddy to go with me on a quick chucker hunt. We released 12 birds. Brought 10 home. Shot one and couldn't find it. Had one complete miss. I usually hunt with at least 2 other dogs. Bella needed some time in the field on her own. Bird hunting is so much fun. It is a real pleasure to see a dog that you have trained do what she is supposed to do. Here are some pics from our short hunt. This is me putting out the birds. It is so awesome to see the dog stop on a dime and just lock up. Locked up again. Not bad for a lap dog. Hoping to someday make it to South Dakota for a real wild bird hunt!!!

Thanks Mossberg. Bella is a 4 year old Brittany Spaniel. She is a good hunter and a great family pet. I couldn't ask for a better dog.

Looks like a great time , are the chucker the ones you hatched ? Do you use a beeper on Bella for when she locks up?

Yes these are birds we hatched and raised. There were over 200 in the flight pen. I think we have used around 50 so far. I haven't bought a beeper collar yet. Although it is on the want list. For now, I have a bell attached to her collar.

How do you cook your Chukar Salt ? I throw mine in the slow cooker with Cajun Seasoning .

Most of ours go in the smoker. But I do like the idea of slow cooking!
