Just curious what size spreads you guys are usin thus far. Yesterday mornin ( fri.) we used right at bout 100 and was very effective.. but had also been 4x's that many usin the field. Today i pussed out and didnt feel like makin 300 trips so we only had out about 3doz.. but also worked wonders.... On top of the full bodies i have been usin a lot of shell decoys that look like resters that seems to add a lot of realistic look to the spread. yup.... belive it or not... you can still kill geese without usin FFD decoys as the whole spread. Infact i had standard flocked head shells... mixed with my grand mag shells from about 6 years ago. I like mixin the sizes i guess.... May look slightly funky.. but dont fix whats not broke i guess

Today I hunted by myself and since I can drive out into the field with my trailer I used all eight dozen BF full bodies. If the fields are wet I take the ATV and use anywhere from 3-6 dozen Real Geese silos. None of these decoys have flocked heads. I've killed the majority of my geese this year using only silos when field hunting.

Just curious but do numbers do more than the spread layout? Could you use 12 or less and still bring them in? h.h.

If you are in the field they want to be in, you can use 2 and pull them in.... But, if you are trying to attract them at a distance, you'll want to put out more dekes. Just like real estate, it's location, location, location!!!

For traffic birds, go as big as you can. If hunting the feed field (the X), use enough to hide yourself. If I were you, I would not change a thing. You have been smacking them the last two hunts.

Noble, I really wish you had been at our seminar on Sat evening. It would have really given you some great information to answer your questions!!! Some really good tactics discussed!! I will say this.... Scott is VERY informative!!! And here is the good news!!!!..... For all of you that weren't able to attend the seminar in person, Scott is now producing a "Bad Grammer" DVD, previously it has been an audio instructional, and now there will be a video to watch and learn from. Scott goes into ALOT more detail on ALOT more issues like fundamentals of how to hold the call and use your hands, and also some hunting tactics, etc. This should be a GREAT addition to your instructional materials!!! We will have these to sell at this year's Expo at our booth, so if you make it, come by and get you one! Also they will be available on our online store at www.hoosierhitsquad.com . We'll get them in here in the next week or so.

If you are on the X two decoys will work... not busting your **** but if the geese like that field they will be there... most of my field hunts are walk in and I use 4 dozen silos (real geese and Big Flock mags) and 6 FB's (HC lessers) I too like the mixed size look I have 18 homemade sleeper silos and 2 dozen shells that I use on the snowy day (they haven't been out this year)
