Since the limbsaver silencing kit came apart on the x-bow I ordered a new one. I thought that I'd switch broadkeads at the same time because I only have one set of replacement blades for my Hypershocks. So, I went the Rage route.
Brand new Gold Tip bolt. Brand new Burt Coyote illuminated nock. New Rage Practice Head on it.
Excalibur Vari-Zone Scope.
I had to adjust up 3 clicks at 20 yds with the field point, Rage hit same POI, so do the Hypershocks. Moved the bag out to 50 yds to verify the speed setting on the scope. Since they all are hitting the same spot at 20 yds I decided to cut my time down and go straight with the Rage practice head. Got a phone call right as I was getting to shoot. Hung up, got all settled in and squeezed the trigger. The arrow hit short of the bag in the grass. WTH?? Oh, dumbass me had the 20 yd pin on the target instead of the 50 yd pin. No biggie, I'll just walk out there, grab the bolt and re-shoot.
I walk out to get the bolt and it's gone. O.K., it's buried under the grass. No biggie, that's happened before. I get a weed cutting tool that I have so I can cut thru the grass to hopefully come across the bolt under the grass. Nope. Spend 20 minutes looking and cutting ruts in front of the bag and behind it roughly a foot apart. It's gone. Almost $30 gone in a moment of inattention. I wouldn't feel that bad if it was old, but it was only the 2nd time it left the x-bow!!! Maybe it came out of the grass and continued into the woods? Spend a few minutes looking there. Nope. I have no idea where it went.
Oh, the lesson? Pay attention to what you're doing. I leave the phone in the house when sighting in/testing the Muzzleloader, I guess I'll have to do it now with everything!
