Just got my soil test results back today for my food plot. I have a PH of 7.3, my phosphorus and magnesium are at above optimal level, and potassium is below optimum level. Gave me a recommended target pH of 6.5. How do I decipher what I need to put down to get my (K) up and adjust my pH? This form is confusing. Approximately 1.25 acres planted usually in a mix of brassica, clover, wheat, turnips, radishes, etc.
Thanks, Brandon

Put 500 lbs lime and 300 lbs 15-15-15 fertilizer and you will be fine. $120.00 bucks should cover it.

This will reduce your pH to proper levels and will last nine months before the another application will be necessary. Also, are you using tap or well water to irrigate? If so your water might be on the high pH side. You can purchase this from this company: www.hummert.com/product-details/1034/nitroform-blue-chip-38-0-0

LOL I stand corrected just reread post. (I posted last night after waking from a nap) Yes, do not add lime as your soil is good on PH. (6.5 to 7.0 is perfect) I would use a fertilizer with some nitrogen to get your seed's a good start. Too much nitrogen can give you a weed problem, but with fall planting's that usually isn't an issue. Turnip's and rape as well as brassica all require Nitrogen and 300 lbs a acre is recommended on these product's and will grow quickly and choke out any weed's. Good luck

I always plant clovers which make their own nitrogen for the soil, then follow up with turnips, oats or rye grass after clover plot is done. The nitrogen the clovers produced are consumed by the turnips, oats or grasses...free fertilizer

Definately do not need to lime unless your PH is in the 5.0-6.0 range. 7.3 is alkaline you need the Blue Chip 38-0-0, or Urea 48-0-0 to decrease the PH to 6.5-7.0
