I wouldn't get that close to one of those cars. God rest his soul and hopefully Tony will get through it.

I feel for the young man's family and Tony Stewart as well. It's sad.

Bad deal for all parties! The governing bodies of the various racing associations need to levy HEAVY fines & suspensions to put a stop to drivers getting out of their cars to throw tantrums & helmets when their adrenaline is amped-up. It's hard enough to keep their eyes forward & to the rear to keep control of their car to not cause collisions without a mad driver jumping-out onto the track.

Yep that was a very foolish thing to do and he paid the ultimate price for it. Hopefully something good can come from it in that it will cause other drivers not to make the same mistake; very bad all the way around.

I really try and stay away from a topic like this. There's never a answer. And never anything good come from it. I will say that I know a little about the subject. I have raced sprint cars for several years now. I will also say that in the heat of battle emotions run high. Yes the kid should have stayed off the track. Is he the first to ever do this? No. It happens every week. And emotions are at all out high. Is Stewart at fault? Depends on what you think of my first question. I will say there is question on why he was so close to him. Also some times a driver is upset and will "buzz" a guy with dirt. The video can go both ways. In the end there was a young man that has lost his life. Another one that will have to live with what happened for the rest of his life. Like I said this is just my take on it. I have strapped in them many times and fully understand what's going on. It's a terrible shame. God speed Kevin Ward. Keep Tony Stewart in your prayers.

Angry or not, only a fool would leave his car before the safety crew arrived if the car wasn't on fire. I saw this story elsewhere, and I can't believe the number of jackasses who think Stewart hit him on purpose.

I have yet to find anyone who say he hit him on purpose but I have seen many who think Tony was trying to scare him a little.

Do sprints usually have that stuff? Its not necessarily poor boy racing but is sure as heck aint nascar. I wouldnt be surprised if that wasnt one of the rules of the class .... no radios.
I had heard that he had a gopro though?

Also I never did say anywhere that I thought it was on purpose. Look at the players and look at the history of the players. I think it was a scare tactics that went All Wrong. This never had to happen. Like I said a young man lost his life and another one will have to deal with it the rest of his. I'm done with this topic. Like I said in first post I try to avoid this kind. I have been around this sport all my life and it's a sad day for everyone. No one will win in the end of this.

A couple of guys on another site said they have seen a slow motion video of the event and they say Stewart didn't not try and "intimidate" him and his car did not slide, change direction, move over or anything else until Ward was hit.

Sprints do not use radios and the only time a camera is used is if the team is doing there own thing or the event is being televised which this one was not. Keep in mind folks are seeing a video that was made by someone across the track sitting in the stands and the only side visible is the left side of the car. The moment of impact took place on the right side of the car hidden from camera view by the car and it's large overhead wing. The video depicts Stewart's car torque to the right as if he made an abrupt move for some unknown reason. Unless there is other video(s)taken from the right side of the scene then this is a hard one to call.
