After nearly a full year, Trident Armory is now in full production with barrels, uppers, complete firearms, and dies for its new cartridge, legitimately creating hot AR-10 ballistics from an AR-15 with case lengths short enough to work everywhere.
See the press release below. Pics to come, as soon as we get them online...

Create a cartridge that functions in the AR-15 platform that doesn’t just work for hunting big game- but excels: This is what Trident Armory’s owner James Collins tasked his staff with in early 2013.
“I don’t want to get into the AR-10 business- but I want AR-10 performance. I’m tired of people being excited about cartridges in the AR-15 platform that only perform adequately. I want to work backwards- look at what room we have, and maximize the space available without trying to reinvent the wheel.” The requirements were simple- move a classic big game bullet at classic big game killing speeds, and make it function in this small platform…
Trident Armory’s head of development Dan LaChance came back with the solution to the problem- “it has to be 358 diameter,” he said “or else we just aren’t using the available capacity effectively. We have enough variation in bullet weight available to meet everyone’s needs.”
Answer: Trident Armory’s 358 Trident AR-Mag. (patent pending)
The 358 Trident AR-MAG doesn’t just get the job done. It doesn’t toss a projectile of modest weight at marginal speed. It hurls a 200 grain rifle projectile at over 2550 fps, and that’s just the beginning. 180 grain bullets are breaking 2600 fps and 150’s are at a sizzling 2680+ fps.
The Trident 358 AR-Mag is legitimately capable of killing big game, and not just out to 200 yards. Sighted in at 200 yards, 200gr bullets fall only 10.8” shy of bullseye at 300 yards, and are just a mere 2.8” high at 100 yards.
The new round’s energy is nothing to sneeze at either- Boasting a massive 26.8 Taylor Knock Out Value, compared to only 22TKO from a 30-06 with a bullet of the same weight
This groundbreaking effort by the staff at Trident Armory isn’t their only iron in the fire. Already in the works, is an entire line of AR-MAG cartridges, including a 270 Trident, the 257 Trident, and the 243 Trident. All creating legitimate short action rifle ballistics in a platform that weighs half as much as the average AR-10.
So big game hunters, for this year’s deer, bear or moose season, pull that varmint rifle back out of the closet, click on a new upper, and get back out to the field with a gun that doesn’t just look like your favorite black rifle…but is your favorite black rifle!
Prices for upper receiver packages start at $1099 with a 5 round mag and a set of dies. Production has already begun and Trident is
now taking orders. Shipping will begin in early August.
