That would be a neat thing to do. I think it takes a dark cool place to grow them..
You can't beat sautéed mushrooms for steak or burgers... Yum...

Now you really done it woody , sauteed mushrooms and a bison steak on the grill might be in order next pay . And maybe find me some sasafras roots and make a tea with it , maybe try my luck on making a sweet tea with it to go along with the steak and mushrooms .

You can find tons of kits online for that in a bewildering array of species. I just ordered some Shiitake plugs from an Ebay vendor a few days ago, you just drill holes in fallen logs and drive the plugs in with a hammer. It can take a year or more to get your first crop, depending on the species and conditions, but you'll have more than you can eat once they start producing. I also purchased a Morel kit, but they're notoriously fickle. Think I'll try Chicken of the Woods next.
Now I have the aforementioned Shiitake and Morels, got the Chicken of the Woods too, and some Lion's Mane plugs as well. The Lion's Mane 'shrooms allegedly taste a bit like crabmeat, I'm dying to find out. My first Morel kit never produced, although there was a suspicious flush of greys at the end of my driveway the last two years. I got a new kit to try again this year.
