He has cold water tail. This is the first time I have seen this. I can tell he is in a lot of pain. Not much you can do for him, asprin and rest.

I know - my Lab had it about 2 months ago. Freaked me out thinking that I had broke her tail or something. Hope she'll be OK. It took my Winnie 2 days to get over it and me about 3 days to get back the sleep I lost being up with her all night.

I don't think it's just confined to labs - When your dog is in the water doing retrieves, particularly the cold water and the tail doesn't get dried out before you put her in the seat/kennel for the dry home the muscles in the top of the tail where it connects to their body will cramp up to where there tail just hangs down and looks like it is broken. It is extremely painful for them and only aspirin and time will make it better.

What do mean by air the dog? Let them dry out. There is no sure way to keep this from happening. It's just one of those things that happens.

"Air" the dog. Let them run free for a few min to dry off, loosen up, go to the bathroom, etc etc.
Similar to walking for a short distance or what ever after a run....(I wouldn't know anythign about this....excecise, whats that??? LOL)

Man that dog wags his WHOLE BODY. Todd When he is happy, he wags his whole body. I always thought it looked goofy. Now it's goofy not seeing his tail move. He is playing fetch w/my slippers today, even did his happy dog tap dance, but still no tail wagging.

Tim, TomTom and Thor wish him well. TomTom is just like Rudy, his tail wags, so does the rest of him.

Ruddy is trying to sleep standing up w/his head on the couch. I don't think it's working real good for him.

Give him half a viagra. That might raise his tail some.
