:'(As depressed as i may be about the North zone goin out.... i sure as heck cant complain about my year. I think shootin my buck back in early october was the best thing that could have happened. I duck hunted like a mad man all year long. Got to go on my first layout boat hunt.. and have a drake bluebill at the taximan from that. That in itself is a new addiction to me but its hard to pry me away from my mallards.
Ended up shootin 4 wigeons(all hens ofcourse) .... 3 pintails (drake about to head to taximan also) ... couple shovelers...a black.. my fully ploom greenwing finally... and a whole ginny grist of greenheads. Im not sure y my dream duck drake wigeon played suck a "peckerhead" this year but that leaves somethin to shoot for again next year.. got the pinny and the colored up greenwing out of the way however in 07. Heck got to retrieve a "miner" band and shoot a goose w/ a muskrat trap attatched.
How about rest of ya?...

It's been a great year....... but my bag only holds Canada and Snow geese, and drake mallards.......... Great numbers, but I'd love to bag a pintail or something "different" before our South zone goes out.

It's been a good start as I live in the SZ, but I killed more ducks in the NZ this year then the 3 days I hunted in Stuttgart, AR two weeks ago!

Well since my season just started, it is slow. If we get some flood water, it'll be hammer time the rest of the season.

Had a good Sept season geese, teal, and one hunt where 3 of us went 9 for 9 on banded geese. That won't happen for a long while I am sure.
North zone ducks sucked for me this year, actually very few geese then too but I didn't hunt all that much up there.
So far South Zone has been good. One hunt and limit of mallards and a shoulda limit on geese. Look to get a few more hunts back home in the next month or so but it is hard for me to get away. If I had a boat I know where I could knock the crap out of a few right now...

Noble..you know how to find your way down south? If so and you want to come down for a hunt or two let me know. But after the season you've already had you may not want to come down here for a couple geese.
Man now that I'm retired it's hard to find enough guys to hunt with everyday. ;D

oh art dont worry... i WILL come see you if the opportunity comes alive but im gonna try to keep peddlin these geese up here before i make any trips. Just please dont make me wear anything pink art... and thanks guys for the comments... I do gotta give lot of credit to my huntin partners... finally found a couple that will scout,chase, follow  just as hard as i will. Makes it a lot nicer to have 3 of "me" instead of tryin to be in 3 places at once myself. |

yea i know pigeon thanks for remindin me ..... I guess i was just thinkin it would come in steps.... meanin i would take my teal... then a wigeon... then a pinny..... Dont get me wrong my pintail is a diamond in my mind...... but to be honest... and theres 2 on here to testify ... we passed shots on the pintails for 3 passes waitin for the wigeon to give me a shot .. ha ha.... |
