We've been smelling something dead in the little woods next to us so I went to see what it was. Before I could see what it was I bumped a bearded hen turkey off a nest just 15 yards into the woods at the end of my dead end street. She did the broken wing trick to get me to follow her. She was putting all the way. She ended up going in a neighbor's yard across the street. I backed out to leave her and her nest

Wow! Sounds like you might be seeing some chicks (or whatever baby turkeys are called) in your yard soon!

So don't leave us in suspense where was the dead smell coming from. I backed out as I did not want her abandoning the nest. We will just have to put up with the smell as most times the wind is good for us.
