Due to the sketchy nature of the weather, I am heading to my Franklin County lease this morning (closer to home). This is my last chance of the season. Was hoping to bag my first bird from my own property this year but I blew that chance when I missed one. Hopefully, I'll catch a lonely late season tom prowling around. A jake will do. Good luck to all who get out this morning. Keep us posted.

6:37- I'm sitting in my shooting house on the edge of a 6 acre field of mixed grass and clover. I've got a clear view 200 yards to left, 150 yards to right and 100 yards straight out in front. Was raining off and on most of morning but mostly stopped now. I have not heard any gobbling, but I didn't expect to in this weather. My years of experience hunting here tell me that turkeys don't usually make it into this field until later in the morning (maybe 8-8:30) and then can be seen here throughout the day, but you never know. If they happened to have roosted close by, they could drop in any time. I'm going to sit here till noon and hope for the best.

7:02- Raining some again. Glad I chose to hunt under roof. At least I'm dry! . 7:05- Two deer just trotted into South end of field. Something had them spooked. They didn't stay long.

8:02- A light fog has set in. Nothing much to it, I can still see both ends of field. Still trying to spit rain now and then but not much. It's getting to be time when you'd expect to see turkeys show up in this field. So far, two deer are all that have paid me a visit.

9:08- A couple more deer showed up in the South end. At least I've seen 6 deer. Rain is coming down steady now. Maybe that will bring turkeys to the field?

Very nice looking field.. Yep, you'd think if turkeys are going to a field they would go there.
