9th Annual Hunting Indiana Turkey “Contest” Check IN & RESULTS Thread

Check in your birds on this thread. You can post them elsewhere too, but to count in the contest they must be posted in this thread.

The TEAM contest scoring is the same and will be for Hunting Indiana bragging rights ONLY.

RULES FOR THE TEAM CONTEST

1) Teams are five hunter teams.

2) The first bird from any state is the only bird that will count

3) We will be using the NWTF score* sheets for scoring.

* NWTF Score - Typical scores only. On multiple bearded birds ONLY one beard counts. Get your birds score from the NWTF site at.....

As with any “contest” the decision of the judges will be final.

Please put one on the board for Team7. Killed this one on opening morning at 8:05 a.m. I watched this bird strut for close to 2 hours with two hens and was finally able to work the hens over to me and they in turn were nice enough to bring loverboy with them for a 17 yard shot. He was 22 lbs. 2 oz., had a 10 1/2" beard and 22mm spurs. Looks like he also had the start of some beard rot about a third of the way down on his beard.

Final score: 22.125 + 9.375 + 9.375 + 20 = 60.875

Rack another bird for Team 7!
Killed a heavy, long-spurred bird yesterday morning at 9:15. He weighed 25.5 lbs. with an 11" beard and 1 3/8" and 1 1/4" spurs. 25.5 + 12.5 + 13.75 = 73.75

Here is a video I took when I killed him...had to put the phone down to shoot.

Had him pegged for youth season, or so I thought. Got him with my phone the day prior...

When it got daylight on the youth opener, turned out that he was right over our heads at 25 yards. Unfortunately he pitched out the other way and my daughter never got an opportunity for a shot.
