Not too many fellars shootin mergansers and such anyway,, so I don't for see this being to much of a problem. I mean,, I don't like to see the numbers declining on any species,, but it could have been worse. Somebody needs to re-teach them birds how to migrate again?

I think this is a somewhat limited event. The birds that usually winter on the lakes seem to have moved farther south than usual and done just fine. In the last two weeks Ive seen multiple long tails, 2 barrows, and 1 white winged scoter in Huntington and Wabash counties. The birds have been dealing with hard winters for way longer than we have.

Migrate or die. I look at it as Mother Nature weeding out the stupid ones. Now, if the same could only be said about the 2 legged ones on welfare.....

In Southern Laporte Co. the woodys finally got to come out of the ditches they were hiding in, seen a few mallards out and about but not much else. My wrp ponds are still froze so is hanna sand and gravel pit.
