Dug up and old buddy of mine last night.. and asked him to go on a hunt. Jumped some birds by accident last night off of a pond and thought we would try it. Get there this mornin and the wind is right in our face where these birds had been sittin... checked few other options but the pond just dives off... no place for decoys really and didnt really wanna get the boat out to retrieve them. So went with my gut and hunted the cove anyways. Ha.. wind in face mind you...... HORRIBLE for what were tryin to do.
By 7:50 we had our 8 mallards ... only 1 hen. Some big o juicy green heads for the crock pot. I was somewhat floored. They wanted in that dang cove so bad it was almost disgusting. Right over the horse pasture and into the decoys they came. Beautiful small groups and i will say some good shootin. Thanks solohunter!!! Now i onto the geese tonight... got out in time to watch about 75 dump in a bean stubble field.... as Christina Aguilera would say............ " Is gon' get..... Dirtaaaay"
