Nobody can touch Steven Rinella's show, Meat Eater. There isn't even another show close to it that I am aware of. The guy tells a great story, shows warts and all, shows the field dressing, meat prep, and food prep.
If you haven't seen this show, you need to. It has restored my faith in hunting shows.
Any other fans out there?

I have enjoyed the few episodes that I have watched. My favorite one was when he took Joe Rogan (msp?) and another fella that had never hunted out on a Deer hunt. Might have been just good acting but, it seemed as though Joe gained a whole new perspective and respect for our sport. I hope he can continue to keep it real.
Just remembered the coyote eating episode, really turned my stomach just thinking about eating a song dog but it was something different.

Rogan still talks about that and now promotes hunting on his podcast!

The first time I saw this show I knew I had found a great hunting show for several reasons. No loud rock and roll blaring in your face, the guy will screw up a shot just like normal hunters, he doesn't jump up and down yelling and high fiving when he kills something, he guts the animal on camera and with his dirty hands and knife he will cook up and eat a piece of the kill. Two weeks ago I laughed as Steve walked up on a wounded bull moose he had just shot, as he was about to touch the moose it got up and charged him brushing him as it ran past. After they finished off the moose and catching their breath the guy he was hunting with says to Steve "I thought you knew better than to just walk up on a wounded animal" Steve replies I guess not. I watched his holiday show where he cooked up a bunch of different wild game dishes from what appeared to be his own kitchen from a home like you and I would live in not some studio set and served it to a bunch of friends. My wife even loves this show, it's as real as it can get.

One of the few shows that I do DVR. He shows and does it all from the shootin to the guttin. He isnt after the biggest animals, he just enjoys hunting.

I remember when he killed a Havalina and then cooked the meat useing its stomach and heated lava rocks. While I would never try that it was still pretty dang cool to see.
I really hope his show sticks around for awhile and keeps up the great content!

It is one of my favorites, along with Randy Newberg's Fresh Tracks show. Both shows are informative, and usually public land DIY hunts that the average guy can get out and do.
I watch hunting shows primarily to learn, not to be entertained.

The Sportsman's Channel. Bunch of short clips on youtube. www.youtube.com/user/MeatEaterTVThey have a place you can buy something like 4 episodes for 20 bucks (? I think that was the price) My PC is my TV and no luck finding full FREE episodes as yet but the youtube ones are pretty good. Neat show. God Bless

Definitely my favorite, and the only one set to record.
I didn't see the above mentioned coyote eating show, but would like to. Haven't killed one yet, but I'd sure give it a try if I get one and it appears healthy. That's been a favorite subject of mine for a few years and some threads have said that the hams are about the only parts worth messing with, but that they can be pretty good.
I've recommended his show on a few threads about hunting shows over on Bowsite.
Agree completely with the reviews above, especially the one by featherduster...covered about all the points I would have mentioned.

I've read two of his books and can highly recommend them. The 'Scavenger's Guide to Haute Cuisine' is about his efforts to recreate a forty-five-course using all wild game recipes from some French guy's book of 1903. His efforts to catch and freeze everything from baby pigeons to snapping turtles validated my crazy obsession with hunting and fishing, that's for sure. The other book 'American Buffalo' is the most honest portrayal of a regular guy putting together a once-in-a-lifetime hunt I have ever read (reminds me of my moose hunt in New Hampshire). Both are very satisfying reads for guys like us.

Talking about his kitchen reminded me of when I was in Jimmie Houstons house in Ok. last year. Down to earth guy, believe it or not, it was a nice double wide that you wouldn't think was one. His lab had pups that were just starting to run around, and we ended up breaking out a roll of paper towels to do some clean up detail on the hardwood floors.
We were driving around looking at the property and he sees a hog on the other side of the fence, slams on the brakes, grabs the AR, jumps out and starts throwing lead.
I like meateater too!
