KANKAKEE will open the GUMZ unit tomorrow. Things have been real slow around the area because most of the birds have been roosting there.(it should be a real blood letting.) Hunting away from the kankakee has been real slow also. Todays winds didn't make any difference. How has your hunting been around the northern parts of the state.

It has been slow for me as well. Started out good the first week then a short cold snap and it seemed like a lot of the birds were gone.

The hunting around the laporte county area is real slow. The geese are locked in on their favorite resting spots where nobody can shoot, and there are very few ducks.

Not trying to be a wise arse, but you must not be looking in the same spots I have been. LP man myself..There are ducks to be had. Most on private, but there are a few on the right local lakes.

Well there were 70 some parties,a lot less then I thought. Supermag: I don't know where your looking for ducks but other than the game preserves and a few secluded private no hunt areas I dont see any birds other than ''coots''. I am waiting for the 20th when the prison geese get paroled.Or better yet I am hoping for super freezing temps thats when the hunting gets real good.

That's incorrect, there were 93 parties as we were party #88. We drew 9th pick. Saturday should be a real madhouse.

ONESHOT did you guys do any good with your 9 th pick.Friends of mine had a poor pick ended in 4Y got 2 mallards. The clubs in the area are not doing real well. We need weather like snow. and freezing temps.

Not to sound like I'm bragging, but we (3 of us) shot 12 mallards: 3- hens & 9- drakes and lost one drake woodie.
