Anyone know of a motel close to Kankakee that is a decent place. I looked on the map and there is nothing even close to the Kank. John

Forget that!! Just drive up and hunt in the morning!! ;D Good luck on the motel... Merrilville is about as close as you'll get, call someone in North Judson and see if there are any motels in the town, call a bank or someone and ask. North Judson is right there about 10 min. from Kankakee. Good luck up there I hope you get to kill some!

I've stayed in Knox before but can't remember the name of the place, just remember there was a good nearby bar with a model train that ran around inside.

You can stay at the "Astoria" in Knox, 574-772-2227
It's not too bad. I've had relatives stay there at Christmas time and they didn't voice any complaints. Should be about a 10 to 12 minute drive to the Kank from there.

That must have been some time ago...Ernie's Fireside Inn was the bar/restaurant that you were in. They've been gone 5 or 6 years now, at least. You could also try the Oak View Motel in Judson, but I'm not sure they're as nice as the Astoria--- 896-3333.

When are you coming up? I live a mile from there. I'd grab a drink with you, if you'd like.

Here's a check list for ya,, cause I sure wouldnt want ya unprepared for the KANK.....
1 Bring yer own lifejackets,, they supply the boat,, but not the coat.... If the CO's is cruisin,, he will let you know about it...
2 Bring a good spot light,, a newbie to the KANK will be lost on the water till the sun comes up........
3 Get all you can in the first 5 mins,, cause after that they will be a mile high... ANd be ready,, cause they will fly at you from all directions...
4 Bring all the dekes you got... You will see unreal sized flocks... Keep throwin till shootin time comes....
5 Bring something to cover the boat with... Depending on what blind you get,, you might have to hide the boat close to your blind.. And then you'll need to cover it...
Dont worry about goose dekes,, they are out of season there,,SJBP zone!!!
Be in a hurry,,, cause even the #1 pick has no time to spare getting set up.. If you have to travel to the woods,, it could be 20 mins till you park... Dont waste any time after you pic your blind,, haul azz to your spot and start throwin dekes..
You gents want some blind advice?? PM me...
What day is your reserve,, we might just bump into each other.......

Ozpa, the bar with the train on the main drag is gone? I'll be working up there in '08 and '09 and was hoping to hit that place. It's been more than a few years since I was there last. Any alternative suggestions?

Any alternative suggestions? Depends on how tough you are: ;D O's tap in Downtown Knox on Main Street is O.K., USA Cafe (downtown across from the Court House) can be good or bad depending on the night and band(It is right next to my office); Bass Lake has a few bars that aren't too bad, and the Wooden Nickel in Judson is an o.k. place. If you are REALLY tough run out to the "Round Up" east of Knox on 8 and wait for the beer muscles to get inflated. Bring a knife, and a gun. It's amazing the world of hurt I've seen guys on disability put on a man.

That's funny, the guy on disability in a fight and thinking snake might think about going to one of those places, just don't drive the state vehicle to those places!
