and w1's boys and another friend of mine decided to hunt Royal Flush on Sunday. We put out a mix of pheasant, chukar, and quail between 2 snow covered fields. And I mean "snow covered!" It's one thing to trek 5+ miles through the bird fields. It's a whole different game in snow from 1-2 feet deep! So in the infamous words of Frank Zappa and Nanook...we went "trudging across the tundra, mile after mile!" But man did we have fun. Here's a shot of der HuntMeister, my buddy Ronnie and a rooster. Ronnie was proud as could be to put some birds down with his Dad's ole 16 Ga 870: And here is HM with a chukar and his Sweet 16: Needless to say, it was a frosty day!

Thanks for posting this HCG! This was my 1st ever bird hunt. My father, uncles, grandfather and great uncles used to get together and hunt IL back in the day but I was just too young to tag along. Ever since those days gone by, I have always wanted to try a bird hunt and when HCG and W1 sent an invite I couldn't respond fast enough! It was truly awesome to watch the dogs work their magic! Well trained dogs with just unbelievable noses. The folks at Royal Flush were really great guys to meet, wish I could have spent more time chatting after our hunt. It was the day for the old 16's to shine wasn't it! Dad gave me his Sweet 16 a few years ago, it was really awesome to get the humpback out and in action! Speaking of after the hunt, Rick's BBQ in Terre Haute is just what a fellar needs after tromping over hill and dale in a foot of snow...mighty fine eating! THANKS again HCG and W1 for allowing me to have this experience!
