I have a large garage less than 15 years old. The homeowner who had it before me poured the concrete in the garage his self and I know he didn't put a moisture barrier [plastic] between the concrete and the dirt since the floor sweats really bad in the spring and fall. Question, is there anything I can do short of ripping the floor out, laying a moisture barrier down and repouring the concrete that will eliminate this issue? I was hoping there was something I could spray or coat the floor with that would at least reduce the amount of sweating, its driving me nuts. I dont know if the missing moisture barrier is causing the issue. Thanks

No concrete expert but I have seen a few yards poured....none of mine has a moisture barrier under it and I do not have any "sweating" problem. I doubt it is coming up and through the concrete..... it is likely temperature difference and dew point.

I agree with swilk. The concrete is at or below the dew point and moisture is condensing on the cool floor.

You guys are probably correct but how come some garage floors sweat and some don't? I have been in alot of unheated garages that do not sweat.

The moisture is not coming through the concrete. You can use a dehumidifier but it will ice up if is cold.

All you need to do is move air in the location..... Ceiling fans or floor fans will work

Ceiling &/or floor fans & an open attic door if it is a finished garage.

Stabilizing the humidity will work best in the long term.
