Made a video from the majority of what has been captured by the trail cams regarding bobcats since 2011 (excluding 2012, no pics that year). Activity really increased in 2015 though.

While checking the cams Sunday I had a close encounter with one of the bobcats. It seen me first and took off running. Maybe 30 yards from me. When I got home and started going through the cards I did get a good daytime video of it. Here's a still shot from the video.

Spainy79 I keep hearing Indiana is close to getting a season on Bobcat. The DNR is taking public input in regards to having a season in 2017-18. I voiced my opinion against it. Yes, numbers are up but they are going to be up when they were pretty much non-existent to begin with. I think they need more time.

Like otter, bobcat numbers can easily be hampered by hunting and trapping. I see it up here were 3 or 4 trappers are working the same areas, and I'm talking in thousands of acres of puplic land. From the research I have done cats are horrible mothers and only have 2-3 kits. Most times I see 1 kitten with each mother.

We've got a few around our hunting spot. I doubt I would shoot one even if there was a season. I like cats of all kinds..

IMO it's time for a season, I see Bobcat tracks everywhere and I think they are putting the hurt on the Turkeys and Rabbits but that us just my opinion.

I don't feel issues like opening a bobcat season should be based on public opinion. If the DNR says a reasonable number can be harvested without hurting the population into the foreseeable future then I say good deal! They are the experts and I trust whatever decision they make. In either case it's good to see bobcats on the rebound finally

Got a couple good vids. First is of a cat chasing down a rabbit and the second half is of a cat with a rodent it had already caught.

I wouldn't hunt one just to say I hunted one. There would have to be a good reason for me to want to take up the chase on a bobcat.

This is all from 2016. In all I believe I had 35 minutes of footage that I cut down to an 8.5 minute video. There are 3 cams that captured it all. There were more sightings in 2016 than the previous 5 years combined. This is in Greene County.

These pics and videos are super cool! I think bobcats are one neat critter. I'll see one or two where I hunt over the course of a season. I'm not sure I'd shoot one if they had a season. I do like cats..
Thanks for sharing..
