I assume that means you killed it but did not eat it then? I would say that has to be the nastiest taste duck I have ever tried to eat.
Pigeon on the other hand is a grain fed bird and taste along the lines of chicken and I would assume by your answer you have not tried pigeon either if your comparing it to merganser?

OK then,, so I don't assume the wrong thing,, how was the merganser? I have a Mexican buddy that I hunt with a lot,, and one of his jokes while we are out on the water is,, he has a homemade salsa that he makes and can make any fish duck taste good with it,, but the merganser is one bird he cant choke down even drenched in the salsa!!! I personally have never tried coot,, but this buddy of mine has and he says the salsa works great on the coots,, but not the mergansers..............
The pigeons are great right off the grill even without BBQ sauce!!!

My point was not to poke fun at you for killin it,, but rather I was curious to know if you had a way to cook the merganser that made it pleasant to eat instead?? Sorry for the coRnfusion if you thought otherwise!!

That Muscovy duck is funny looking. Did you have to throw pebbles into the decoys like you were feeding them?

Muscovy duck meat is totally different, more of a red meat. Also if you ever handle a live one be careful, they have a special claw that will rip you up!
