It should be, it may be icy but it should be open, I know they are killing some birds down there on the river on the high wall.

Silly rabbit,, everyone knows a ton = 99 ducks on the wall!!! Take 1 down and pass it around and you no longer have a ton!!!

Yep if u get out when hovey and henderson is frozen, you can hunt the highwall behind hovey and do some good on birds back there. Where is the High Wall on Hoveys? I've seen the IDNR online map of hoveys but I don't know where the high wall is located. I've only hunted waterfowl out there a few times and that was over 30 years ago. I remember a slough called Piroque Slough or something like that. But I'm not sure what the "High Wall" is located. I can see where the Drain is on the IDNR PDF map of Hovey. But that map does not identify anything called the High Wall. Is that a local name or something? Would the High Wall also be called the North Levee? Here is the map that I was looking at: www.in.gov/dnr/fishwild/files/hovey.pdf

You have to put in at the boat ramp on the river and go up river past the drain and continue around the bend. best way to describe getting there is during the day go back the main road to get to the old field pit blinds and take it down the old pit row road. the main road that goes to the back of the pit blinds. straight back that road is a tower, that along there is the highwall that we used to hunt. catch the birds coming out both ways.

Do they still use or draw for the pit blinds anymore? I hunted them a couple times several years ago.
