Have been looking into getting a new muzzleloader and was wondering if anybody liked the new thompson center impact? How is accuracy with only 26 in barrel?

I have one. I have not shot it a whole lot. Sighted it in a couple times. I hunted with it once last year and killed a coyote with it. Seems like a good shooting gun. Hard to beat for the price.

I bought a new Impact sight unseen off the web. Mounted a Nikon Pro-Staff scope on it. For the money, it is an excellent value. The trigger is like that found on rifles twice the price. No problems with accuracy. The first time it was shot in the field, a doe died 120 yards away. The second shot was a buck about 70 yds. downrange. I guess you can say that muzzleloader season ends after the first shot from the impact.
My powder is Blackhorn 209. I've never needed any extra effort to pull the breech plug. The recess in the end of the impact barrel makes loading the saboted XTP round very easy.
All things considered, the Impact was my entry into muzzleloader shooting and I don't see any reason why I need to move up to a more expensive rifle.

I own a T/C Black Diamond in .50 Cal. With 90.0 grs (Volume) + a .452" Hornady XTP bullet in a sabot, fired by a 209 shotgun primer; it is very accurate out to 100 yards. I use "Triple 7 RS" powder, which proved to be the best propellant in my T/C. I have T/C factory peep sight installed on my Black Diamond.
