From the original pics, after he sees you he is starting the counterclockwise routine that coyotes and wolves due when they see a predator. Could be a coydog. I see one here in Indianapolis that looks similar to this one.

No way those are straight-out coyote of the variation we see around here all the time. They look to me like the"coy-wolf" that was talked about on that tv show the other night. Some call them "eastern coyotes" but they previously have been limited to the northeast, and are NOT the same as our typical doggies. Heavier and somewhat thicker, intermixed with wolf. Hard to say for sure without a dead one to examine though...

IMO, there is domestic blood in them. Wild canines have straight tails. Look at the tail on the one that is in back of the main one in the front of the pic. Also, IMO, I don't see much coyote characteristics in the main one. He or she is really large framed.....who knows???

The only other "dogs" I can think of could be Huskies or Malamutes? Woody, I think you got it right, but possibly with a hint of Shepard in them. Especially the one that has a lot of white on the lower part of it's face - Husky or Malamute for sure. Neighbor has a pair of either Huskies or Malamutes, (brothers) and they will roam a long ways if they get off of their chains. One of them will grab and kill any small critters it comes across. The neighbors (they ARE good people) replaced a mixed flock of ducks and chickens for one of the people near here. (about 1/2 mile away) Both dogs broke the chains and disappeared. They ended up at the other peoples house, and not a bird was left alive. They were much more tolerant than I would have been.......... That's a good tip about the curled tails.

Looks like wolves, but if I was betting my paycheck I would say it's a Huskie/Malamute mix. Or somebody close by had wolves til they left the gate open.

Could be a wolf. Could also be a fuzzy Husky-type breed, or mutt. Hard to tell from the pics..

I took that wolf pic. I live on the edge of town of Trafalgar indiana I've seen the pack there's 8 one black one white rest wolf color. The black one came to yard and was trying standing over my lab. Lab layed down being submissive. I ran outside and it ran off That was 2 years ago. See the pack every few months far off. This was the only time I saw one close so I guess I'll carry a nice camera in my truck better pics next time. I told dnr about it and they told me I'm crazy and there's no wolfs lol. Then what is it?

Looks "wolfy" to me.
If you've got a pack running up there I'd be doing some shooting..

they all look like big dogs or coys, there aren't any wolves in Indiana. The bigger yotes that have wolf in them are still east of here, also. I used to see big wild dogs and mixes all the time down by Freedom.

Very intriguing...I am not sure what that is, but the legs don't look wolfish, at least as well as you can tell in this picture. Wolves have pretty lanky legs - if I was betting I would say coyote and domestic dog. Sure would like to see more pictures

If there is a pack of eight running together I would be shooting with a gun not a camera. It wouldn't matter if they were dogs or wolves, a pack of either that size are dangerous.
