What kind of huntin you gonna be doin on the opener?? River? Public Lake? Pond? Somehow a flooded field( wait... it doesnt rain in Indiana) ...
I actually have a packed weekend...i was luck enough to actually have the ability to pick both my mornings from a list of 4 excellent spots. One is a public lake that is kind of my honey hole and doesnt get hunted much... the others are ponds inside corn fields that are holdin a TON of ducks. Sunday is either gonna be the cut corn field water hole.. or a flooded timber style pond that has a good mixed bag hangin around in it. Saturday is lookin like either the lake.. or the standing corn water hole. I am soooooooooooo jacked.
No im not askin what lake.. or even heck where its near... just wonderin what your guys approach is... we have always had the hunt the public water early philosophy and hold your public ground until the birds are educated on big waters. Seems to offer more good shoots that way instead of burnin your private stuff first.

One or all of the above, depends on what the scouting shows.

Get to hunt the North Zone opener this weekend up in a large lake where my buddy owns property. Next weekend's South Zone opening day will be another lake hunt. It was between that and the white river, but the White has been so low in our areas from all the drought, we'll most likely have to wait for a good snow melt to hunt it. Whack 'em and Stack 'em, as my buddy's favorite CO likes to say (after he rolls up in his uncamoflaged boat to check them right as the birds are working).

Pigeon are u talking about CR 17 or McNaughton park by the Hospital? Either way there is alot of birds that hang out at both ramps and u cant get to them. 17 has the houses and the birds hang close to the ramp and of course the park is in town. But if u get in the right place u can get them coming and going.
Good luck to all, im already having trouble sleeping!!!
