I see site names that strike my curiosity. Someone just asked me about my name, so I thought a campfire thread elaborating on our site names would be interesting. Most of you know that my name is not Jon Snow, but I have become Jon Snow. I like Jon Snow. My heart doctor sent me to a psychologist ...he must get kickbacks. Anyway, in one cession, I mentioned Jon Snow; she was intrigued with Jon. We talked a lot about Jon ..and they get paid for this stuff. She thought that Jon was longing to come out, but was afraid. This site was a safe place to let Jon (a long lost part of me) emerge. At one time, I was quite the socialite, and had lots of friends. I even liked myself then, but all this changed. Several of you know about my time of struggle not being able to protect my daughter when she was young. I felt like a failure and hated myself for a very long time! This lengthy struggle ended in a divorce and the loss of all my friends save one. I shut down and isolated myself. I still have very few friends. It's safe to let Jon Snow have friends. I like Jon Snow. The name came from a show that my wife and I watch called Game of Thrones. In the show a character named Jon Snow meets a wildling woman. She often tells Jon that he knows nothing ..."You know nothing Jon Snow!" Since I knew nothing about hunting when I joined this site the name fit. ...true story

Mine is pretty boring; just my initials and the 870 because back when I had few guns my 870 was my do it all gun, killed my first deer with one.

Mine evolved I had a guy at work that figured out my handle and was critiquing everything I posted so I changed my handle to not give my identity away to him. He has since retired so I could go back to the old one but don't want to confuse people or bother with it.

my name comes from the fact that i have always been a deer archery fanadic. and seemed like i always had one bent arrow around for some reason. i would rather hunt archery for sport but when it came to filling freezer(so i could eat well all winter) i took my smokepole. because ofmedical reasons i am now resined to a crossbow

"Parson" is an old term for preacher, and I am an old preacher.

I cut my deer and turkey hunting teeth in and around Metamora, Indiana (Franklin County). I've hunted there for 14 seasons now. I have since expanded my range, but continue to hunt Metamora and will as long as I can manage to keep the lease. If I lose my lease, I guess I'll change my name to Dearbornhunter since I do a lot of my hunting there these days.

I have had the nickname Phob since gradeschool and been a volunteer firefighter for 35 years. We were doing a presentation for the school and our chief introduced me as fireman phob so I just use it.

My Grandma picked mine out for my dad to use back in '21. He used it for 89 years and I've used it for going on 69, and my son has used it for 46. So far none of us has done anything that made the others want to change theirs, so I guess we'll just keep going with it 8^)
Imagination doesn't seem to run in the family.

A buddy of mine got me visiting these forum boards a while back, he kept asking me sign up. I visited for a long time before registering. When I decided to regisister with lack of some emagination was strugeling for a name. Since my buddy and I hunted coyotes together and my last name being Morton we came up with saltydog. Allthough I have few post I read the forum every day. Mostly to congrat someone on an acheivement they have done, I love to read the stories of others hunts and just being outdoors maybe learning something along the way. I do have another name on other forums not to be hiding from anything just didnt think of using the same name. It is maddogmech due to being a mechanic/pipefitter. By the way woody my buddy that got onto this forum was named rowdy911. Do you still have his name registered? Rowdy911 passed away almost 7 yrs ago now.

I've got a few Rowdys but no Rowdy911. Maddogmech is my deer contest team member over at AntlerTalk. Woodmaster is doe hunting over in Illinois the next couple days and we plan on doing some doe culling come Christmas week so we will be upping that team score..

A long time ago, while signing up for my first internet account, I needed a user name. Hanging above my desk was my first antlered deer, a 136" 10 point I got at a time when food was the key reason I hunted. When I finally had the funds to have him mounted we named him First Wood. As you can imagine, several variations of first wood had already been used and my user name morphed into Firstwd. It has stuck ever since. I have considered changing to just my name, but haven't decided if that would only confuse things.
