The place where I check my deer in always writes your name and what you checked in on a big board by the counter. They also keep records of previous yrs harvest numbers by season. During gun season they have averaged between 350-400 deer the last few yrs. When I checked my deer in on Monday I was number 113. They had double that in bow last year. I live in NE Indiana and I haven't heard of any weird diseases and I have a hard time believing the deer population has dropped off that much from last yr,so whats going on?

It could be related to the online checkin system. That is how I do it now.

You may be right about the online checkin, but I've checked with some processors in my area and they are all way off from previous years. Is there a way to check on the numbers that have been checked in online?

It would be pretty cool if the DNR had a "live" check-in sight that you could view with updated data showing the harvest totals.

A "review" option for CheckIN will be about the ONLY good thing about CheckIN. Yes it is very convenient for the hurried hunter but in my opinion makes "cheating" easier. If/when it is implemented, we hunters need to hold accountable those who have shot deer, legally or other wise. Trust but verify.

The processor I took one of my deer to this weekend said he's about the same as always. Right around 400 so far.

I'm using on-line check in this year.
I also process my own, so I haven't talked with anyone at check in or processing sites.
Look forward to seeing the season tallies.

My processer said that they were only down about 30 from last yrs gun season. I brought mine to them on Monday morning around 11am and they had around 25 deer laying on the floor,I asked when did these come in and he said they all were brought in that morning. I guess Sunday must of been a good day to hunt. Maybe alot of people are using online check-in.

I think the more folks find out how easy the online check in is to use the more you will find people using it. This was posted on the Bloomfield Processing Facebook page... That was from the opening day of the firearms season.

I use online checkin and process my own. However, I shot two does yesterday at WW State Park and took one of them to Archers in Fishers for a friend to have processed this morning. They are about 200 deer behind normal I was told. Same story near Brookville at processor I am familiar.

That Bloomfield pic just makes me hungry. I don't know what they normally get on the firearms opener, but that sure looks like a lot of deer to me. I took my buck there to have it processed, the lady thought I needed to check it in as well. I told her that I had already checked it in online and she made it seem as if that was a huge relief to her. I'm guessing she didn't really want to deal with filling out the paperwork.
