Would anyone experienced in waterfowl hunting like to take me along or guide me on a hunt? I live in New castle and I'm willing to travel. I don't have any friends or acquaintances interested in any type of hunting and I don't like hunting alone. So It would be nice to have someone introduce me to the sport and mentor me in if at all possible.

I wish you lived closer. The hunting is hit and miss down here, but you would be welcome to go with me.I hunt alone, most of the time, because most I know are at work. A lot of what I hunt is backwater, when the river is up. Sometime I walk in, other times a kayak is needed. I've only been at this for 4 yrs and by no means an expert.

as well im looking to get back into duck hunting. did it religously back in missouri before I moved to evansville. I do all the other hunting but getting bored with it. now I wanna duck again I grew up in Evansville. I hunting at Hovey's Lake back in the late 1970's when I was in college up state. It's been over 30 years since I've been duck hunting. My old hunting buddy lived next door to my parents so we were right next door to each other before we got married and moved out of the old neighborhood. Now he hunts with his older brothers and has his own hunting property. I got married and sold my shotgun and gave away my goose decoys to another neighbor. I have a boat but it's setup for fishing not duck hunting. But with some money it could be fixed up with a blind holding system and setup for hunting. If not it could be used for transporting to a duck blind and then covered up with some camo material to hide it somewhat. Ducks and Geese have excellent eye sight and from up where they fly they can see for miles around them. They will see your face looking up at them easily if you don't put on camo paint over your face or wear a camo masks and full camo cloths. I never could quite do the duck feeding call right. Now I have a new call that's a shaker type call that does the duck feeding call for me. I've yet to try it out. I'd also picked up a nice goose all too. And my neighbor will let me use his Rem Model 870 Wingmaster 12 Gauge shotgun. To hunt Hoveys Lake you will need at least three guys to get a good spot in the blind or pit draws in the morning. They will give preference to parties of three vs parties of two or a single hunter. At least that was how they did it back in the 1970's. I've seen a lot of people signing in to hunt waterfowl out at Bluegrass F&W. They will start waterfowl hunting at Bluegrass on Nov 30th 2013 again. They hunted out there from Nov 1th to Nov 10th and then closed it down to waterfowl hunting until Nov 30th. I'm not sure how many ducks and geese were killed out at Bluegrass. That place is pretty well used by a lot of people and IMHO would not be that good for hunting waterfowl but then I could be wrong. There are way too many roads and vehicles driving around out there even in the early morning hours. The best place to hunt geese would be just outside the waterfowl refuge (Loon Pit) but that's all private land to the West of Loon Pit. Those farm fields out along Kippler Road would be a good spot of you can get the land owner to give you permission. I'd be willing to bet that they are leased to some hunters already. I've seen guys out there hunting and getting checked by the Local Conservation Officer. Either they had written permission to hunt out in those farm fields are they got fined big time. I hope it was the former not the latter. I'm not for sure who owns that land but you can go to the court house in Boonville (Warrick County) to see who owns that land on the Plot Maps. I would bet that the demand to hunt that land is great! The Ohio River is another spot to hunt waterfowl when the season reopens on Nov 30th.
