okay as the title said im new to it.
me and my brother have gone twice. first timekilling 6 quail the next time 2 sshould of had more.
we have been going to bluegrass fwa and looking around. weve been taking my untrained blue heeler pitbull mix. she has a great nose and I started dove training with her until her leg was broke....she does okay but she hasnt been trained great. we took her and I give her the credit to what we have gotten. none the less finding them when ee couldn't see them.
she has been running around till she sees them and shell run them up. but the last bird she seen in\under grass she pointed...which I thought was weird....anyways
now that you get the point that we r completely out of our elemnt and dont know what we r doing....would anyone care to tell me what type of area or covers we should be looking for or would anyone be interested in joining us one day at bluegrass for a hunt. would love to actually see it done right.
everything hunting\fishinv related ive always learned on my own...so im sure eventually I can figure it out would just like to get a lesson I guess. after mainly quail

That's a heck of a name you have there. I like it.
I'd say that you've done fairly well. Congratulations!
I don't know anything about it and have never been, but sure do want to go. I've thought about taking my retard dog hunting. He's stupid, but he's got a good nose on him. He's mean too, so I can't take him anywhere others will be.
I get the feeling that north is better, but nowhere is good in Indiana. There's some tall grassy land next to where I hunt. It looks great for something to be in there. I drive along the edge with my 4 wheeler, but haven't seen anything yet. I've heard a tom over that way a few times ...I'll introduce myself in the spring.
If you ever want to go on a put-n-take hunt, I'll go with you.
Take care, and welcome to HI.

Hunt food plots or broad-leaf plots adjacent to woody regrowth. Quail will use grass lands, but not nearly as much as a lot of people think. On public land I like wheat stubble covered with waist high ragweed. Hunt that and the brushy edges next to it.

I live in Evansville, and have never hunted for quail at Bluegrass. Heard they are there, but tend to get over hunted I guess.
