Johnc911, allegience, hoosiercanuck & myself decided to give it a whirl this morning. The geese filled the skies, but they had other places on their mind as to where they wanted to be. We sat up approx <1 mile from a roosting area, and we were met with the early sounds of excited honking. The first group go up, and it was a big group! I'm gonna guess 100+ birds, but they left the roost and headed South, and then East which put them out of reach of our dekes and flags..... That same scenario played out several more times....with easily 500-600 geese following the same pattern throughout the morning. Finally we were able to pull off 4 from the main flock, and they were locked up several hundred yards away.....just gliding toward our setup. We let them pass overhead as they were BARELY out of range, but as they passed over us they saw something the didn't like and flared. Regardless, it was a beautiful morning..... we had donuts, the chocolate milk flowed like water, we had a REALLY nice buck high-tail it out of the county as it caught our scent, and like I said, we saw plenty of geese.....just none on the ground. Here's Orion..... it's a bit fuzzy since I had to hold the camera steady with no tripod while the shutter stayed up for several seconds. The best sight of the day..... John arriving in his Chick-mobile, fully loaded down with dekes and hunting gear! John praying to the Waterfowl Gods....... Some happy clouds at sunrise......

You can't make fun of the car, I hunted out of a Buick Lesaber for the last two seasons. This year I up graded to a 1993 Toyota Truck, upgrade was a bed as I lost cruise, air, tape player, seating capacity, and probably overall capacity as the Lesaber had a huge trunk. Anyways it not about how you get there it is all about making it there to the hunt. Ride a bike, chick mobile, minivan, or fancy truck as long as you got your gear that's all that matters.

John, you should either paint that thing pink and put a big Mary Kay PWA prostaff sticker on it, or you should camo clad that thing!!! ;D I see what the problem was with your setup, why the geese didn't want to come in.... It was the Foiles sweatshirts!!! ;D

I don't know if it is better pink or white? Eithier way you should have had the JEEP, at least it is a hunting rig!! I remember the days when I hunted out of a Nissan Sentra, that was quite the hunting rig hauled several deer in the car and it wasn't too bad off roading manual tranny and front wheel drive.

The best was when I was in college and my dad and I went hunting and he wasn't planning on going and he was driving a brand new Caddy STS and he shot a small doe and we put it in the BIG BIG yellow bags and put it in the trunk of the Caddy with the electronic shutting trunk! That's classic!
