It was a bad sign up deal,,, I know each of my group signed up as individuals figuring it was like a reserve draw.. Then after the email back from them later,, everything was messed up. I bet alot of the no-shows were single hunters who didnt sign their partners up. I wouldnt drive there on my own from up here,, but I would have if I could have split the gas with 3 other buds

Maybe it was sign up woes, but if I got a letter notifying me that I had been drawn I would be there.

Well I got the letter allowing me to go 9/13. I went dropped one goose that came back to life at least enough to get to an area I was not allowed to go. Passed up 3 passing shots, not comfortable enough with the longer shots
As of this morning there were only 14 birds killed total for 2 days, I only heard a few shots in the AM then decided to pack it in for my 2 hour drive back.
I think it was a great idea, and there is room for improvement. It will be better the next time. My biggest complaint was on the map they provided they showed my float. that I was required to be within 35 yards while hunting, on the west side of the pond. So I headed down the line looking for a spot to walk into the pond, never found it so I fought my way through some thick briars only to find the marker was on the East side of the lake, lucky the pond was only waist deep at most.

I saw a few teal, woodies, couple dozen mallards and 100 or so geese the day I hunted. As well as one cormorant (those things look like geese from a distance!!!), great blues, and some smaller night herons of some sort, I think they were black crowned night herons but I am not real good at their ID.
What were you doing over there?
