I shot this goose on Sunday. It had a Federal Goose Band on one leg, and then this piece of plastic around its foot. It appears to be made of the same diameter plastic as a neck band, but has no numbers and no writing on it. The plastic is worn, but the metal band appears to be new. The wound on the foot is completely healed. Todd

I got some answers from the IDNR:
1) Bird was trapped in Washington City Park in Davies Co., Indiana;
2) Relocated to the Kank and banded on June 12th of this year;
3) Apparently the bands were not glued per Manufacturers instructions;
4) Speculation is that the band was pulled open in some manner, then slipped down to the webbing where it lodged and eventually pushed through the skin.
Thanks all for the help.
Todd

They actually banded the birds with orange and white in the same group of birds, I'm not sure which was which, but the orange vs. white is juvenile birds vs. mature birds. They are looking to see what returns to where they were banded and if the relocation plan is of any success, they are hoping the juvenile birds will stay in the relocated wild, and are expecting alot more of the mature birds to return, they are hoping for at least a 20% success ratio to stay in the relocated areas. So yes there will be orange and white bands in the same groups. We helped band down by Sullivan, IN this past June. Congrats on the band though!!

Pigeonflyer,
If you can email those pictures to me I'd appreciate it. The goose didn't have any trouble running that I could notice, although it only got about 10 steps in before my Chessie steamrolled it.
