Dicks will give you a rain check. I'm going tomorrow and get a couple of things they have on sale and I might get a box of those Experts at that price. I been thinking about giving waterfowl hunting a try later on this year. h.h.

I been thinking about giving waterfowl hunting a try later on this year. h.h. I've been thinking about trying it out too in the late season when I'm burned out after three months of deer hunting. Still haven't decided though, as duff warned me off it. Don't know whether it's because..... A - He doesn't want any more competition out there B - He's seen me shoot C - He's genuinely concerned for my mental well-being, my bank account and the state of my marriage

Hux I just didn't want you to jump in without fair warning. It's like giving a recovering addict a different form of the substance of choice, just takes one time for some.
There is a reason some of us consider ourselves "FIs" (freaking idiots). We know better but just can't do anything about it. Spend thousands of dollars on gear just to shoot some birds not to mention in the rain, mud, snow, freezing temps, super early, or in cold weather gear during the Sept. season.
Makes me proud to say "FI till I Die", come on January

But this should not be a reason not to try waterfowl hunting. Rememer you really only need stamps, license, HIP #, non-tox shells, shotgun and some camo. So to get started for most is under $50 bucks (stamps, & shells) you got the rest already. Then next year it is a dozen cheap mallards ($24), waders ($50-$300), dozen goose shells ($80-120), and cheap calls ($15 each duck & goose). Then each year it is something different and something more expensive. Before you know it you will have several dozen decoys at $300/doz, blinds, dog, boat, trailer for hauling your gear, maybe an ATV to haul your gear out to the fields, calls that cost $80-200 per call, warm weather waders, cold weather waders, training collar for the dog, training gear for the dog, more miles then you thought possible on your vehicle just in scouting. A new found tallent of knocking on strangers doors to sit in their corn fields in December and January....
One thing that will never change is the look people will give you when you ask to hunt geese in the fields, your co-workers look when you whoop and holler and request vacation days when the weather is predicted to be bad, your co-workers look when you told them you spent all weekend in the river or field when it was well below freezing and loved every second of it, your wifes face when you buy more dekes, alarm goes off super early, come home super late, eh you get the jist...
Having met HUX I am sure he will fit in just fine with the rest of us FI's, no offence intended.
