just seen this ten ring if it was to me?
That actual grouse moor is about thirty miles south of me. i used to do grouse on the moor when i was younger, but i find its very hard work nowadays, my big love is pigeon shooting on the barley fields, then i go to driven partridge and pheasant days twice a year The grouse start on 12th august, ducks and partridge on first of September, i travel down to the midlands to shoot driven partridge on the 25th of october, looking forward to that as usual, but before i go i hope to get my shooting sharpened up on some pigeons and ducks. i do enjoy my shotgun shooting unlike deer at work there is no pressure for numbers. regards billy

While you seem to have to drive a ways to take part in all the different types of wingshooting your options are indeed many and all would be great fun. The classic pheasant drives I've seen on TV and on videos online look like SO much fun. I can't recall what year it was when I saw a wild pheasant and have only been able to drive to upper Wisconsin once to hunt ruffed grouse but hope to do that again one day. We have lots and lots of Canadian geese in my area and there are still ducks too but I think the geese moving in such large flocks just are more noticeable but it wouldn't surprise me if someone showed where we had more geese than any other bird to shoot, except maybe the Mourning ("turtle dove" to us yankee hunters) doves. I'm hoping to get in on some dove, duck and maybe a goose hunt or two but that is pretty much all the options I have on wild birds in my area or any area within decent driving distances. The different species and numbers of birds you have to hunt is simply awesome. Our dove season opens Sept 1st and I for one and anxious to have at them. Enjoy your shoots and post a few photos if you find the time. God Bless Steve

yes i usually wear a checked shirt,a tie with pheasant or duck motive, a jacket, if cold also a waste coat and plus two trousers( we call them breeks) a deer stalker tweed hat, and usually aigle wellingtons. its tradition English shooting attire, If you are ever over here in the season Steve i will take you for a days driven shooting, and a roe buck, we are probably talking about october when the shooting season is in full swing and the bucks are back on there feet after the rut, but give me plenty of notice it has to be booked almost a year in advance to be able to get a place. Anyway i got another buck tonight but got soaking crossing a river to retrieve it. lol regards billy
