I'm curious as to why you can't use copper or nickle coated lead shot? Since the lead is coated doesn't it pass threw a duck's or goose's digestive system without giving off toxic lead poison? Or is copper and nickle toxic too? h.h.

Not sure why, I am sure the gubmint has a good explanation though...
Copper can be toxic, they use it in pesticides. Mainly herbicides though.
As the old saying goes, the poison is the dose not the compound. Everything is toxic if you get too much of it. Oxygen, salt, water........even some of the micronutrients they put in multi-vitamines can be very toxic in small amounts.

Duff is right and if the copper gets rub off the lead when it is fired from the gun.
