Well I'm finally recovered from the Thurs. trip to report!! I got about 1 1/2 hrs. of sleep Wed. and Thurs. That was a tough drive home, had to stop several times to cap nap, and slammed a couple of Monster energy drinks to stay awake! ;D Anyway, I went up to Mishawaka, IN to hunt with good friend Kevin Smith, who operates River City Outfitters guide service www.rivercityoutfitter.com . He called me late Wed. evening to tell me he had a great spot scouted out and wanted to film the hunt, so I decided to go up. We hunted with 5 of his friends and himself, and I ran the camera (of course I had my gun with me in case! ;D). He had a large dairy farm sileage field scouted out with about 500-600 geese going in regularly for the last several days. We set up about 10 doz. fullbody Hardcore decoys, and FA layout blinds for all. One of Kevin's friends, Jeff Glaser, is a Foiles prostaffer, and he did the majority of the calling (since I had to run the camera! ;D). It ended up that only about half of the birds came in today, but it still made for a great hunt! The birds just didn't want to commit like they should and after several blind and decoy adjustments, etc. We still managed to get 20 birds for the day, it really should have been 7 limits, 35 birds! Great hunt and the H.I.T. SQUAD got some awesome footage!! Here are pics from the day.... On a side note, with there being the Foiles staffer and all the FA brand blinds, etc., this hunt may possibly be used for an episode on the Outdoor Channel for Pierog's Outdoor Productions' "Calling the Shots" which is sponsored by FA brand. You also may know of his other business Longneck Outdoors waterfowl supply store. So I'll keep you up to date on that if it develops.
The day's "hunters". First is Kevin Smith "Captain" of River City Outfitters, www.rivercityoutfitter.com
Jeff Glaser, Foiles prostaffer
Jason, I can't remember his last name
Todd, again I don't remember the last name, and his buddy Dave. Todd is the one with the "hat", I love that "thing", he grew that from seed!! ;D Another pic of Dave, this was his very 1st goose hunt, what a way to start! He did pull a rookie mistake and get a 3 1/2" shell stuck in his 3" chambered gun!! ;D, so he missed an opportunity at the end to kill a single that came in on his side, it got away unscathed! ;D
