It takes a true man to admit his mistake to everyone here in the public forum. I commend you for that. Like everyone has said, keep your nose clean and this is a good lesson for you and many others that may read this topic.
Good luck.

Mistakes happen. I have dropped a young hen woody out of a pack of teal myself. You didn't try to hide them and you are accepting the consequences. Fair enough. This exact reason is why there has been arguments for a long time about opening wood ducks during teal season or not having teal in September at all. Just wait until you shoot a hen pintail in October and don't now it till it hits the blind.....the pucker factor is quite large until you double check everything already there.

Well said Stillwater, and Michael good to hear from you on this topic also! Like said, it is easy to get confused on the two, I had a guy that I know that hunted for several years that shot some immature woodies thinking they were teal, and he was busted for it, it was on state FWA property. It definitely happens! Hopefully all will get straightened out for you! We are capable of mistakes, definitely can't take anything for granted, like stated you sure do learn from your mistakes!!

... like stated you sure do learn from your mistakes!! Expeciailly when caught ;D Keep it up it takes time. Watch out for spoonies in teal season too. We saw a few this weekend and untill they are right on you it can be hard to tell, they fly simular, have blue patch on the wing like a teal, just the spoonbill gives it away.

I have just made a vow not to shoot ducks til they are in. Maybe in a couple years I'll be MUCH better and I'll try it again. I'm sticking with Geese til October.

Took me quite a while to feel good about IDing birds in flight. I'm decent with most puddlers but still like to confirm before taking the shot. divers I am clueless

It is what it sounds like, swimmers are shot off the water, let em land then shoot em.
Some don't think it is right others think it is fine, and others could care less.
Same with spinners, jump shooting, blah blah blah. Just have fun and hunt how you want, as long as it is legal...
