The bird gods have smiled on us the last couple days. Yesterday I hunted with my brother-in-law (duff) and a buddy. My buddy finally got his first goose. He was excited about it and I think I was just as excited for him. I also shot one that went down about 80 yards out in a pond and duff's dog had his first goose retrieve. Duff shot 3 geese at another property later in the morning.
This morning went out with duff again and another buddy of mine. The morning started good with the teal and a few geese flying. Around 10:30 we had 6 teal and 2 doves and were starting to think about packing it up when a flock of geese fly by. I start flaggin' and duff does a little talkin' to 'em they turn and start for us. I stop with the falg and grabb my call and join in the talk. The are about 300 yards out and decide to dedicate to us. The split in to two groups and the first group lands about 100 yards out forcing the second group to land in the hole by the deeks! There were about 40 birds total. We called the shot and started firing. When all was done there were 9 birds laying on the water! The best part about this whole story is...., all 9 birds had leg bands! It was a morning that will never be repeated and will live forever in our minds.
