I'm sitting on the deck having coffee with my wife and the hummers are going nuts on our two feeders. Fueling up for the big migration...

If those things were as big as robins it wouldn't be safe outside.

Been enjoying sitting outside with the hummers buzzing around and all kinds of warblers zipping through the trees. I am always amazed at the folks that can ID these little beauties. Most to me are just CFWs (Confusing fall warblers)

We've been pretty regular with the females. The males have been spotty; a week or so ago my wife said a male came in and ran 2 females off; bully!

raporter, I used to be amazed by a hunting companion's knowledge of plants. He seemd to know every tree or plant at some distance and never got stumped or was seen consulting a reference.
Took me a lot of years to realize he was bluffing part of the time, and banking on the fact that his knowledge didn't have to be perfect, just better than my confidence in my own. If unsure, say it with more authority. 8^)
