Well, took the boys out with the back just shooting pain all over the lower part of my back, hardly could walk. But the boys wanted to go, so we went to the youth dove hunt down here by Evansville. We had 2 doves come in from the backside, and came out in front of us, and my youngest, Holden shot the first dove, and droped it, Hunter, his older brother shot and droped the other dove. Holden was SO excited that he shot his first dove, he forgot to eject the empty shell out. His smile, if you guys could have seen it, was from ear to ear. He said, I shot my first dove, and I shot it with my favorite hunting buddies. Dad and Hunter, well that just made my heart melt. My pain seem to be gone, I mean no pain at all. I need some more of that stuff. But he ran out and got his, and Hunter ran and got his, they were both really happy. It was a long time waiting for me to have the day when I can get both of my boys out to hunt with, it was kids only hunt, but that was worth a limit of ducks and geese any time, just seeing my 2 boys out hunting with me, and the fun they had. Thanks to the Twin Bridges Waterfowl USA chapter for the hunt. FIRST CLASS in my books. They are having a banquet next Sat. Very proud day for daddy. Holden is pictured on the left, and hunter on the right. Final talley: Holden 4 shots , 1 dove, Hunter 6 shots, 2 doves. Mr. Paul Lake, the boys can't wait to come visit you. ;D

Brian, glad the boys had a great time at the hunt.. Also thanks for the kind words about our chapter down here in Evansville. I know your back must of been hurting you but you guys should of stay till the end!!! About 4 o' clock the birds started flying really good and it sounded like world war 3 was going on at Bluegrass FWA!!! The kids took a total of around 550 birds on saturday... Great day for the youth!!!

Congrats, I had my 8 year old out trying to shoot doves Monday morning with a .410. I let him try to shoot them on the ground and he kept missing. Shooting later in the day discovered he was holding the gun wrong. He also shoot at some in the air which he had no chance on hitting. We will work on it and may working him up to a 20 gauge next year. How old are your boys? Unfortunately we will be in Evansivlle this coming weekend for my nephews 1st b-day which means no hunting for us.

Brian:
I am glad to hear that the boys had a great time. I know you must be proud of them. Looking forward to having you guys up the end of the month. Not sure how the EHD is going to effect things here (neighbor has had 2 dead ones in his pond so far), but so far there are still deer running around. They'll have a good time no doubt. Hope the back gives you a break soon. As one that went through it for 12 years before surgery, I know how frustrating it can be....in addition to painful.
Take care! Paul
