This is really good Woody. I looked, but no butchers in any of my adjacent counties. I know that we have some here that will butcher them. I'll see if they want to get on the list.

None here either.......but IF ALLOWED, WOODY.....I would like to put a shout out to anyone within spittin' distance of me!!
I have a GREAT Christian friend. Retired (due to health)county police officer. LONG time (over a half century)BEST friend, the brother I always wanted.
There for me STILL, even though he has only 30 percent of his heart functioning, defibulator for his heart being replaced soon, eye surgery this week and neither he nor his wife can work any longer.
Getting by, of course, He provides as always but I MAY NOT shoot enough for my family, and his. Neither family has extra paycheck to paycheck, often not enough. Finances dictated that my wildcat rifle go on auction so "easy meat" just went out the window and the hunting pressure here is as it is for most, horrible. I will do MY best but.......
For decades him and I have stood shoulder to shoulder making burger, sausage and cutting steaks yet he can no longer hunt but STILL insists on helping butcher.
I realize I am not local to most here, but I only ask for your consideration, IF YOU ARE CLOSE, to please consider a doe or two from your crew or individually for this man and his family or if you hear of one he and I could get in Marshal county or something not too far away.....I would be MOST APPRECIATIVE as would he. He and I will handle the butchering, no worries there.
If not and you find you have extra, I know from experience when I had my shop that it takes LITTLE time to find a family struggling that would appreciate even 10 lbs of burger for their family. Some will balk, but some beef fat ground with it (about 15 percent or so) will make it so FEW will even be able to tell.
ANY local church will know of such, as will about everyone you come in contact with.
Luke 3:11
God Bless!!

I take it that this is different from this? www.fhfh.org/Home.aspETA - One appears to be state only and the other is national.

I may have some extra this year. I have a small freezer and will probably only take one for me.

More.... Indiana deer hunters feeding hungry Hoosiers The Sportsman’s Benevolence Fund is helping put food on the tables of hungry Hoosiers. The SBF provides financial support to various organizations that covers the cost of processing deer that is then distributed to food banks across the state. Hunters willing to help with this program can bring field-dressed deer to a participating deer processor. There is no cost to the hunter, and the venison provides a nutritious meal for those in need. Find a processor in your area - www.in.gov/dnr/lawenfor/3987.htm

When you first posted this, Archer's did not take the donated deer, so I wrote them a letter. They are on the list now! I'm so happy.
Exactly how does this work?

I'm glad these programs are out there, but I can't understand why a hunter would shoot a deer and not eat it himself? In my opinion, good Indiana venison is some of the best tasting, healthiest meat you can come by. We eat 2-3 every year with nothing going to waste.

I'm the only one who eats it in my family, so one a year is good for me. I've never shot a doe and would like to donate one, lots of hungry people out there.

I have ample opportunity to take more than one a year but I am the only one that eats it and I can't eat 2-3 deer a year myself. So I am glad to know of places nearby that donate to this cause. Even more drive for me to get out and take one to support someone not as fortunate as myself.
