I'm planning on returning to Indiana in late Oct for the deer season. Last year I was fortunate enough to hook up on this forum with another hunter looking for a partner to hunt Big Oaks. We met four mornings for the standby draw and got in each day... each of us was able to take a deer...unfortunately my hunting partner of last year is out of the country this year... so... I'm hoping to find someone else who is available...
To let you know a little about me... I turn 65 this year... been chasing whitetails for about 35 years in Indiana, Ohio and now occasionally in PA... I'm a Hoosier by birth and lived over half of my years there. I am a veteran, married with two grown children who live in PA.(the reason my wife wanted us to move to PA). I have a lifetime hunting license and hunt mostly in Ripley County with bow, shotgun, muzzleloader, and crossbow (if I have to because of injury)... I get there early and stay late...have killed more deer as I aged... sit still longer and learn as much as I can about the critters. I'm not a trophy hunter, but have taken a few nice ones. I love the hunt and we enjoy the meat and share it with family members.
Last year was the first year that I found out about the standby hunts... I stay on my ex-neighbors farm which is only about 30 minutes from the refuge.. so I can hunt about any day that is available... draw results are not in yet, but I may need a partner if I get drawn... a buddy is coming back from TX to hunt his farm in Indiana, but not sure if he will want to get in at Big Oaks...
If you are a serious hunter and serious about hunting Big Oaks and are in need of a partner to meet the hunt requirements like I am; please consider contacting me. At this time, my preference is for someone who wants to hunt almost all of the standby dates.. not just 1 or 2.. I would prefer to plan on hunting with the same partner not multiple partners.
Thanks for your consideration,
