I also know nothing about hunting doves. I did see an episode of Duck Dynasty when they were hunting doves. It looked like they just sat and waited on them to come by. Is this how it's done?
So, do they like sunflowers? I was at Atterbury a week ago and saw a big field of sunflowers. Would this be a good place to hunt?

yup , that's basically it , sit and wait , sunflowers are a great spot as well as a water source a dead tree . maybe place a few dove decoys and a mojo dove if you would like . i believe ALL state parks require steel shot for doves .

I've not been out myself, but from what I have read sunflower fields are a good place to start.
Does Atterbury have a draw for dove hunts?

Was just through Atterbury yesterday and saw the sunflower fields. Looks as though they've recently disked up some lanes for hunters. Don't know if it was for a draw hunt or open public hunting. I didn't see Atterbury on the results list for the drawing so it may be open hunting.
Old gravel pits are a good spot too if you're lucky enough to find one.

Hay Fields, Sunflower Patches, Cow Pasture, any Cut Crop Fields, Etc. The place I go is a 15 acre grass hay field surrounded by corn. I usually shoot a bunch. Heck, we used to sit in a cut corn field on our tailgates and shoot our limits.
